Terms of Use

Effective date: July 6, 2026. These terms govern your use of offgridauthority.com ("the Site"). By using the Site you agree to them.

1. Informational Content Only

Off Grid Authority publishes reference material, guides, and calculators about off-grid power, home electrical capacity, storm preparedness, and related topics. All content is provided for general informational purposes only. It is not engineering, electrical, legal, financial, or safety advice, and it does not create a professional relationship of any kind.

2. Calculators and Tools

The Site's calculators (including the solar system, wire size, battery bank, load, panel capacity, and safe room tools) produce estimates from the numbers and files you provide, using stated methods and public standards (for example NEC 220.87 or FEMA P-320). Results are calculations, not approvals or determinations. Electrical work, structural work, and storm-shelter construction are regulated activities: final decisions belong to licensed professionals and your local authority having jurisdiction (AHJ). Never rely on a Site tool as the sole basis for a safety-related decision.

Files you load into Site tools (such as utility interval-data exports) are processed in your browser and are not transmitted to our servers unless a feature explicitly says otherwise.

3. Codes and Standards

References to the National Electrical Code (NEC), FEMA publications, ICC standards, and similar documents are paraphrases and summaries for education. The governing text is always the official publication as adopted in your jurisdiction, which may differ by edition and local amendment.

4. Affiliate Relationships and Advertising

The Site participates in affiliate programs, including the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, and may display advertising. If you buy through an affiliate link we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not change our published numbers or recommendations. See our Affiliate Disclosure.

5. Intellectual Property

Site content is © Off Grid Authority except where noted. U.S. government works referenced or indexed by the Site (such as FEMA P-320) are public domain and remain available from their official sources. You may link to and quote the Site with attribution; you may not republish substantial portions commercially without permission.

6. Acceptable Use

7. No Warranty; Limitation of Liability

The Site is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Off Grid Authority and its operators are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the Site or reliance on its content or tools, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

8. Third-Party Links

Links to third-party sites (retailers, government resources, manufacturers) are provided for convenience. We don't control and aren't responsible for their content, availability, or practices.

9. Privacy

Our handling of analytics data and email addresses you submit is described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Changes

We may update these terms; the effective date above reflects the latest revision. Continued use of the Site after a change constitutes acceptance.
